Assemblyman Chad Christensen, come on down! You are today’s lucky winner! In a story in today’s Review-Journal, Christensen uttered the Oldest Cliche in Nevada for the one billionth time, thus earning him a lifetime of free slot play, anywhere in the Silver State! Let’s look at the tape:

“I have a big, big concern about taxing the industry that is the goose that laid the golden egg,” he said. “Gaming and tourism are what we are all about. We have to do everything we can for them to succeed.”

That’s right, “the goose that laid the golden egg,” the favorite phrase of those who are against taxing the gambling industry more! Since gambling was re-legalized in 1931, the phrase has been uttered over and over again, but today, we reached a special milestone: 1,000,000,000 times!

Of course, we call it the oldest cliche since the people who say it don’t really mean it. For example, the gambling industry is in deep trouble. If Christensen really wanted to “…do everything we can for them to succeed,” wouldn’t he be arguing to eliminate the current room tax, and probably the gambling tax as well? Sure, if we really want to “do everything.” But all Christensen did was stick his thumb in the eyes of voters in his home county, which passed a non-binding initiative seeking to raise hotel room tax. (Christensen voted no.)

But that’s beside the point. Everybody congratulate Christensen when you see him! He’s the big winner!

With the economy taking its toll on our drinking dollars, a little penny pinching can go a long way at the bars. That’s why on a blogger’s salary the late night happy hour is probably the best thing next to espresso vodka.

I only just discovered that this phenomenon actually existed. Shame on me. On a semi recent trip down to Orlando, Florida my hotel was conveniently located next to a ‘Friday’s’, where we ended up as a last stop before bed. When we realized we had stumbled upon half priced drinks and half priced appetizers our liver was rejuvenated and we drank into the night.

Since then, coming across a bar with a late night happy hour has been a like finding extra gold flakes in a bottle of Goldschlager at the end of a rainbow.

Strip clubs. They rank just behind casinos in the popular imagination of Sin City. But just what goes on in these "gentlemen's clubs," and how exactly does a patron behave? Whether you enjoy a bit of scantily clad beauty yourself, or are entertaining out-of-town guests eager to do “Vegas stuff,” you need to know a couple of things before inviting that lovely lady onto your lap.

The newest course at Lake Las Vegas Resort is The Falls Golf Club, a masterpiece designed by Tom Weiskopf. Falls Golf Club is a golf experience you will always remember.

As you exit Lake Mead Parkway you will see the club house on your left and the golf course on your left and right of the road. The front nine, located on your left, the back nine on your right. As you might expect a golf course of this caliber has friendly professional staff.

The 7,250-yard, par-72 course challenges golfers with terrain that varies from the mountainous landscape to the desert floor, creating elevation changes ranging from subtle on the front nine to dramatic on the back nine.

Resort guests are astounded by the course’s breathtaking scenery including spectacular views of Lake Las Vegas, the surrounding mountains and the Las Vegas Strip in a unique, dramatic, and natural setting.

The Falls Golf Club also features a beautiful clubhouse with pro shop and dining for lunch available, and a comfortable indoor lounge and outdoor patio with spectacular views of the course.

In the last several years, Vicki Pettersson has made quite a name for herself writing dark tales of evil and vengeance set – guess where? – right here in Las Vegas. She gives interviews now, and appears at book signings, but I remember Vicki when she was wearing rhinestones and feathers on the Strip. Back then I was a nude dresser and she was a showgirl. Times change.

I first got the news on Facebook. The venerable Vegas show of shows, "Folies Bergere," would close in March after nearly 50 years at the Tropicana. No more feathers, no more sequins, no more can-can. I wondered how I felt about that. Truth is, I'd never seen the show. Time to take a look.

Bring on the Happy Hour. These classy (and pink) vodkas will do to girl's nights out what Cosmo's did to 'Sex and the City'.

Pinky: A Scandinavian vodka distilled with violets and rose petals. Boast itself as the 'worlds most beautiful vodka'.

Nuvo: Pure vodka that has been distilled to become a bubbly drink with a pink color and a fruity taste.

p.i.n.k: Definitely not a guy drink, this alcohol is the new red bull and vodka. It's infused with caffeine and guarana to keep you dancing till the wee hours of the morning.

X-Rated Fusion Liquor: A French vodka mingled with oranges, mangos and passion fruit.

Lichido: Another French gift, this vodka combines lychees and guavas with a touch of white peach juice.

Alize Rose: The "romantic" vodka, a mix of passion fruit, strawberry and roses.
